When we conducted our review of the Pixel Watch in October, we genuinely appreciated Google's initial foray into the realm of Android smartwatches. It proved to be a viable option for those who were not heavily entrenched in Samsung's ecosystem. However, one aspect that left us less than impressed was the underwhelming battery life of the Pixel Watch. If leaked information is accurate, Google intends to rectify this issue with the Pixel Watch 2.

Similar to its predecessor, Google is expected to unveil its second Wear OS-based smartwatch later this year, closer to the holiday shopping season. With the always-on display deactivated, the LTE model we tested retained 30 percent battery life by bedtime, and after utilizing it overnight for sleep tracking, it dwindled to 16 percent in the morning. However, leaked details obtained by 9to5Google suggest that Google testers are achieving over a day's usage on a single charge with the Pixel Watch 2, even with the display constantly on. This improvement, combined with power conservation features, could potentially yield multiple days of use on one charge.

Incorporating Fitbit Features into the Pixel Watch

Despite Google's acquisition of Fitbit a few years ago, the original Pixel Watch fell short of matching the capabilities and accuracy of Samsung's smartwatches or even Fitbit's own wearables when it came to fitness tracking. While Google has a history of discontinuing products that fail to meet its expectations, the original Pixel Watch showcased potential. Therefore, it is reassuring to witness Google taking the necessary steps to enhance its performance, capabilities, and address concerns raised about the initial model.
