Billy Joel and Madison Square Garden Entertainment have announced that the renowned singer will conclude his groundbreaking residency at the iconic New York venue in July 2024, after an impressive 10-year run and approximately 150 concerts. The first of the final 10 shows is scheduled for October 20, 2023.

Throughout his residency, Joel has achieved outstanding success, selling over 1.6 million tickets. The announcement was made during a press conference held at Madison Square Garden, which was attended by Joel, MSG CEO James Dolan, and New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Mayor Adams expressed, "There's nothing more emblematic of New York than a Billy Joel concert at MSG. Billy's music has defined our city and united us for over 50 years. Speaking on behalf of 8.5 million New Yorkers, I extend my congratulations to Billy for an extraordinary series of sold-out shows at MSG and express our heartfelt gratitude for bringing joy to all of us throughout his career.

Dolan commented that Billy Joel's residency has achieved historic significance, not just for Madison Square Garden, but for the entire music industry. The accomplishment of 150 sold-out shows is remarkable and a testament to Billy's exceptional talent, beloved repertoire, and devoted fan base. MSG will always be Billy's home, even as his residency concludes with his 150th performance."

Joel's association with Madison Square Garden dates back to his first performance at the venue on December 14, 1978, coinciding with the success of his fifth solo album, "The Stranger." In 2006, Joel set a venue record with 12 consecutive performances, earning him a banner that hangs in the rafters alongside those honoring the city's NBA and NHL franchises.

In December 2013, Joel became MSG's inaugural music franchise, commencing his residency in January 2014 with monthly shows, continuing as long as there was demand. In January 2015, he broke his own record for most consecutive performances by an artist with the 13th show. In July 2015, he surpassed the record for most lifetime performances by any artist with his 65th show. In July 2018, then-Governor Andrew M. Cuomo proclaimed July 18, 2018, as "Billy Joel Day" in New York State to commemorate his 100th performance at the venue, joined by Bruce Springsteen to celebrate the milestone.

The final ten shows of Joel's MSG franchise will kick off on October 20. Starting from Monday, June 5 at 10:00 AM (ET) until Thursday, June 8 at 10:00 PM (ET), Citi cardmembers will enjoy exclusive access to presale tickets for the October 20 show.
